FEROBIDE TUNGSTEN CARBIDE WEAR PROTECTION
FEROBIDE is a tungsten carbide composite material which combines the abrasion resistance of pure tungsten carbide with the impact resistance and weldability of steel. FEROBIDE consists of high-quality tungsten carbide, with a typical hardness of 1500 HV.
RESISTANCE TO IMPACT
FEROBIDE offers high impact and chip resistance.
This was displayed via 50+ test hours at a 3rd party UK quarry, compared against pure tungsten carbide.
The FEROBIDE leading edge suffered minimal loss through impact and chipping, whereas the tungsten carbide leading edge tile lost nearly 50% by volume.
RESISTANCE TO ABRASION
The abrasion resistance of FEROBIDE is many times higher than that of many popular wear protection materials.
Laboratory tests show the abrasion resistance of FEROBIDE to be:
- 8 times better than 500HB steel
- 2 times better than 97% alumina
- Comparable to tungsten carbide
Under ASTM G65 testing conditions, FEROBIDE suffers minimal volume loss under heavy abrasion, proving its value as a long-life wear protection material.
TENMAT scientists developed the FEROBIDE formulation to make use of a hardened steel matrix which efficiently binds hard tungsten carbide particles together.
This yields a high-strength tungsten carbide material which is unique in its high resistance to heavy impacts and abrasion.
Although a very hard material, all-purpose FEROBIDE tiles can be cut to shape, meaning that they offer end-users total control.
STANDARD TILE DIMENSIONS
As standard, FEROBIDE tiles are manufactured to dimensions of 15 x 40 mm, 25 x 40 mm, 25 x 60 mm, and 40 x 40 mm. Tiles are 4 mm or 6 mm thick.
